This project embodies a multi-phased, multidisciplinary interior transformation set within one of London’s most storied industrial landmarks, 100 Kellogg Lane. Working within the scale and character of the existing structure, the design approach embraces the building’s industrial legacy while introducing a contemporary spatial framework capable of supporting a diverse and evolving tenant mix.
Material expression is deliberately balanced between heritage and intervention. Original brick masonry, exposed steel trusses and expansive industrial glazing are preserved and celebrated, forming a textured backdrop for precise contemporary insertions. Refined millwork, integrated lighting strategies and durable modern finishes create a cohesive environment that supports a spectrum of uses from vibrant retail destinations such as Starbucks and Shaw’s Ice Cream to curated cultural environments including The Canadian Medical Hall of Fame. Each tenant space is unified by an overarching architectural language while retaining its own identity within the larger composition.
The Emporium stands as a contemporary model of adaptive reuse honouring the cultural memory of the original industrial fabric while catalyzing new economic and social energy within Kellogg’s District. Through a careful balance of preservation and precise contemporary insertion, the project delivers a layered, immersive interior environment that strengthens user experience and contributes meaningfully to the ongoing evolution of Southwestern Ontario’s urban landscape.
